Beijing, March 7 – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has stated that India-China relations have made "positive strides" and emphasized that boundary disputes should not overshadow the overall bilateral relationship between the two nations. Speaking at a recent press conference, he highlighted the importance of maintaining stable and constructive ties between the two neighbors.
Wang Yi acknowledged that while differences exist, particularly concerning border issues, both countries should focus on strengthening diplomatic engagement and cooperation in various sectors. He reiterated that China values its relationship with India and is willing to work towards resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue.
“The boundary issue is a historical challenge, but it should not define our relationship. India and China, as two major Asian powers, should prioritize mutual development and regional stability,” he said.
Relations between India and China have witnessed fluctuations in recent years, with tensions arising due to border disputes in the Himalayan region. However, diplomatic engagements, trade, and multilateral cooperation have continued in parallel.
The Chinese Foreign Minister expressed hope that both sides would work together to build trust and enhance collaboration in trade, technology, and global governance. He emphasized that a forward-looking approach would benefit both nations and the broader region.
India has yet to respond officially to Wang Yi’s remarks, but recent interactions between the two governments suggest a willingness to maintain dialogue and prevent further escalation of tensions.
The statement comes at a time when global geopolitical dynamics are shifting, making stable India-China relations crucial for regional and global stability.
