छत्तीसगढ़ में दंगा और आगजनी के आरोप में कांग्रेस विधायक गिरफ्तार; पार्टी ने कहा प्रतिशोध

छत्तीसगढ़ कांग्रेस विधायक देवेंद्र सिंह यादव को पिछले महीने बलौदा बाजार में हुए दंगों के मामले में शनिवार को गिरफ्तार किया गया, जिसके बाद उनकी पार्टी ने सत्तारूढ़ भाजपा पर राजनीतिक प्रतिशोध का आरोप लगाया।

10 जुलाई को जैतखाम (सतनाम पंथ के लिए धार्मिक महत्व रखने वाली संरचना) के अपमान का विरोध कर रही भीड़ ने पुलिस अधीक्षक कार्यालय में आग लगा दी, पास के कलेक्टर कार्यालय और 200 वाहनों को नुकसान पहुंचाया।

यादव राज्य के दुर्ग जिले के भिलाई नगर से दो बार विधायक रह चुके हैं और उन्हें पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री भूपेश बघेल का करीबी बताया जाता है। पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार, दंगे होने से पहले दशहरा मैदान में अपवित्रता का विरोध करने वाले 5,000 लोगों में वह भी शामिल था। सूत्र ने बताया कि मामले के सिलसिले में उसे पहले तीन बार तलब किया गया था, लेकिन उसने जांच में सहयोग नहीं किया। गिरफ्तारी की पुष्टि करते हुए बलौदा बाजार के एसपी विजय अग्रवाल ने कहा: "उसके (यादव) सहित 179 लोगों को अब तक मामले में गिरफ्तार किया गया है और कई और लोगों की तलाश है। उसे रविवार को अदालत में पेश किया जाएगा।

" पूर्व सीएम बघेल ने भी यादव की गिरफ्तारी की निंदा की। उन्होंने एक्स पर कहा: "अगर राज्य के मुखिया को लगता है कि एक युवा विधायक को गिरफ्तार करके वह अपने 8 महीने के 'दागी कार्यकाल' को छिपा लेंगे, तो यह उनकी गलतफहमी है। सतनामी समाज के साथ एक और अन्याय करके आप समाज के साथ विश्वासघात कर रहे हैं। हम, पूरा राज्य, देवेंद्र यादव और सतनामी समाज के साथ खड़ा है। आपको मुंहतोड़ जवाब मिलेगा...मुख्यमंत्री! यह यहीं से काम करेगा, छत्तीसगढ़, नागपुर और गुजरात से नहीं।"

Chhattisgarh Congress legislator Devendra Singh Yadav was arrested Saturday over last month’s riots at Baloda Bazar, prompting his party to accuse the ruling BJP of political vendetta.

On July 10, a mob protesting the desecration of Jaitkham — a structure that holds religious significance for the Satnam Panth sect — went rogue, setting the Superintendent of Police’s office on fire, damaging the nearby Collector’s office and 200 vehicles.

Yadav is a two-time MLA from Bhilai Nagar in the state’s Durg district and is said to be close to former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel. According to a police source, he was among the 5,000 people protesting the desecration at the Dussehra ground before the riots occurred.

He had previously been summoned thrice in connection with the case but “did not cooperate” with the investigation, the source said.

Confirming the arrest, Baloda Bazar SP Vijay Agrawal said: “179 people — including him (Yadav) — have so far been arrested in the case and more are wanted. He will be produced before a court Sunday.”

Former CM Baghel too condemned Yadav’s arrest. He said on X: “If the head of the state thinks that by arresting a young MLA, he will cover up his 8 months of ‘tainted tenure’, it’s his misunderstanding. By committing another injustice to the Satnami community, you are betraying society. We, the entire state, stand with Devendra Yadav and the Satnami community. You will get a befitting reply…chief minister! It will work from here, not from Chhattisgarh, Nagpur and Gujarat”.
