गुमनाम नायक विलासिनी नरसिंह प्रभु की कहानी : The Public Press Journal #विलासिनी का जन्म 25 मई 1935 को कानाकोना तालुका के लोलीम गाँव में नरसिंह प्रभु के यहाँ हुआ था और उनका विवाह दामोदर महाले से हुआ था। उसने एक शिक्षक प्रशिक्षण पाठ्यक्रम पूरा किया था। वह NCG (गोवा की राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस) की सदस्य थीं और उन्होंने पीटर अल्वारेस के नेतृत्व में काम किया। उन्होंने पोस्टर वितरित किए, संदेश प्रसारित किए और कारवार में हुई सभाओं में भाग लिया। उन्होंने 17 फरवरी 1955 को शशिकला होर्डरकर अल्मीडा के साथ मडगांव में सत्याग्रह की पेशकश की। उसे गिरफ्तार कर चार महीने तक लॉक-अप में रखा गया था। उसे चार साल की आरआई (कठोर कैद) की सजा सुनाई गई और उसे रुपये का जुर्माना देना पड़ा। 2,000 या दो साल के कारावास के एवज में। उसे अप्रैल 1958 में रिहा कर दिया गया। उसके परिवार के सदस्यों, विशेषकर उसकी माँ को पुलिस ने एक सप्ताह तक परेशान किया और हिरासत में रखा। इलाज नहीं होने के कारण उसकी तबीयत बिगड़ गई और उसे अस्पताल में भर्ती कराना पड़ा। आगे की गिरफ्तारी और उत्पीड़न से बचने के लिए, वह बंबई भाग गई जहाँ से उसने गोवा की मुक्ति के लिए काम करना जारी रखा। उन्हें सामाजिक संगठनों और गोवा, दमन और दीव की सरकारों द्वारा 18 जून 1984 को सम्मानित किया गया था।

Vilasini was born in the village of Loliem in Canacona taluka on 25 May 1935 to Narsinha Prabhu and married to Damodar Mahale. She had completed a teacher’s training course. She was a member of the NCG(National Congress of Goa) and worked under the leadership of Peter Alvares. She distributed posters, circulated messages, and participated in the meetings held in Karwar. She offered Satyagraha at Margao on 17 February 1955 alon with Shashikala Hordarkar Almeida. She was arrested and detained in lock-up for four months. She was sentenced to four years RI(Rigorous Imprisonment) and had to pay a fine of Rs. 2,000 or in lieu of two years imprisonment. She was released in April 1958. Her family members, especially her mother, were harassed and detained for a week by the police. Due to the ill-treatment, her health deteriorated leading to her hospitalisation. To avoid further arrest and persecution, she escaped to Bombay from where she continued to work for the Liberation of Goa. She was honoured by social organisations and by the governments of Goa, Daman, and Diu on 18 June 1984.
