Muni sacrificed his life to save Jain pilgrimage: Sammed was against making Shikhar a tourist place, fast unto death continued for 10 days

Jain monk Sugyesagar Maharaj, who was protesting against making Jain pilgrimage Sammed Shikhar a tourist place in Jharkhand, sacrificed his life on Tuesday. He was fasting for the last 10 days against the decision of Jharkhand government. He was 72 years old.

Sugyesagar was on fast unto death in Sanganer from 25th December. His dol yatra was taken out from Sanganer Sanghiji temple on Tuesday morning. During this, a large number of Jain community people including Acharya Sunil Sagar were present. The Jain monk was given a samadhi at Sanganer in Jaipur.

Jharkhand government has declared Parasnath hill located in Giridih district as a tourist place. People of Jain community are protesting against this across the country. Parasnath hill is famous as Sammed Shikhar, the highest pilgrimage among Jains around the world.

Another Jain sage Samarth Sagar also gave up food

President of All India Jain Bankers' Forum, Bhagchandra Jain told that Munishree has sacrificed his life to save Sammed Shikhar. They were attached to him. Jain monk Sunil Sagar said that Sammed Shikhar is our pride. Today at 6 o'clock Muni Sugyeya Sagar Maharaj passed away. When he came to know that Sammed peak has been declared as a tourist destination, he was on continuous fast in protest against it. He has surrendered himself to religion on this land of Rajasthan. Now Muni Samarth Sagar has also taken the initiative to save the pilgrimage by sacrificing food.
