Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025-26 today, marking her eighth budget announcement. The budget includes key allocations and initiatives aimed at advancing research, education, and skill development in India.
The Finance Minister highlighted the government's commitment to expanding medical education, noting a 130% increase in undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats over the past decade, bringing the total to approximately 1.1 lakh. To further strengthen healthcare infrastructure, 10,000 additional medical seats will be introduced in the coming year as part of a broader initiative to create 75,000 new seats over the next five years.
Over the next five years, 50,000 government schools will be equipped with Atal Tinkering Labs to nurture students' creativity, curiosity, and interest in science. Additionally, broadband connectivity will be extended to all government primary and secondary schools to enhance access to digital learning resources.
