The Central Enforcement Directorate (ED), which has been continuously arresting IAS officers, other officers, politicians and businessmen in Chhattisgarh, has registered two more new cases (ECRR) this month. The cases pertain to alleged irregularities in Jal Jeevan Mission (ECRR 3/2023) and rice supply (ECRR 1/2023).

In the same year, ED had also registered an FIR (ECRR 2/2023) on alleged irregularities in DMF. Including these, the ED is now probing six cases in Chhattisgarh. These include coal transportation, money laundering in speculation, hawala and excise malpractices.

According to sources, this week the ED is also going to speed up the investigation of Jal Jeevan Mission and rice supply. ED interrogates jailed accused in betting-hawala case. Some people have also been called for questioning by sending summons. Politics has heated up in Chhattisgarh ahead of the assembly elections and due to the continuous raids and action of the Income Tax Department (IT). Because the people associated with the ruling party are in charge of the action being taken.

Last year, the ED registered a case of 540 crore coal transport, hawala in betting and alleged irregularities of 2000 crore in excise. This year, a case has been registered for disturbances in DMF and disturbances in rice supply. In August this month also, ED has registered a new case. It is said to be linked to disturbances in the Jal Jeevan Mission. In all, ED has registered 6 cases in the last one year. Out of this, raids and investigation started in 4 cases. The investigation of two new cases is still in the initial stage.

According to experts, raids and action will be taken in both the new cases in the coming time. On the other hand, for the last three days, ED is probing money laundering and hawala connection in betting. All four people have been arrested in this and 4 people were raided on Wednesday.

Action on their FIR

In the coal transportation case, a case was registered regarding the FIR of Bengaluru and IT and action was taken. The ED has found a scheduled offense in the action of the probe agency. In the excise case, action was taken on different FIRs of IT. In the betting case, action has been taken by taking up the FIRs of Durg Mohan Nagar, Raipur's Gudhiyari, Telibandha and Andhra Pradesh. In this way, investigation is going on in the new case also.

19 arrested so far in different cases

ED is taking action in the state from October 2022. 11 people have been arrested for illegal coal transportation. There are a dozen big businessmen including two IAS, two mining, one RAPSE officer. Five people, including a senior excise officer, have been arrested in the excise disturbance. On Thursday, 4 people including a policeman were arrested in the betting case.

IAS Ranu Sahu has just been questioned in the DMF mess. Rice miller was raided in rice supply disturbance. While the houses of more than 70 people have been raided in all the cases. More than 300 people were questioned. More than 300 crore assets have also been attached. A huge amount of cash and jewelery has also been attached.

Interrogation of bookies in jail, lockers of dozen accused opened

Summons have been issued to a dozen bookies who were sent to jail by the police in the betting hawala case. Piyush Bhatia, Yusuf Potti, CA Harshal and others were called on Thursday. Some of them did not appear after summons. The people who came He has been interrogated at length. An ED team has gone to the bank for investigation. The lockers of a dozen people have been opened. The documents and jewelery kept in it have been seized. ED had called some bank officials. It is discussed that help is being taken in their investigation.
