Indian Railways Plans New Crowd Control Measures at 60 Stations Nationwide

Indian Railways is set to implement enhanced crowd control measures at 60 major railway stations across the country to ensure smoother passenger movement and improved safety.
New Delhi, March 7 – Indian Railways is set to implement enhanced crowd control measures at 60 major railway stations across the country to ensure smoother passenger movement and improved safety. The initiative comes in response to increasing footfall and congestion at key transit hubs.

According to railway officials, the new measures will include better queue management, designated entry and exit points, additional security personnel, and the use of technology such as AI-based surveillance systems. Special focus will be given to high-traffic stations in metropolitan cities and major pilgrimage centers.

“To improve passenger experience and prevent overcrowding, we are introducing systematic crowd control mechanisms at 60 key stations. Measures such as digital display boards, automatic gates, and better passenger flow management will be implemented,” a senior railway official said.

Railways has also proposed an increased number of ticket vending machines and online ticketing awareness campaigns to reduce long queues at booking counters. In addition, platform management strategies, including separate waiting areas for long-distance and suburban passengers, are being considered.

With millions of people depending on trains for daily commuting and long-distance travel, these reforms aim to enhance safety and efficiency. Officials have assured that the measures will be rolled out in phases, with priority given to stations witnessing the highest footfall.

Passengers and railway experts have welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the need for long-term crowd management solutions to handle the ever-growing demand for rail transport in India.
