In a significant development, the Maharashtra Cyber Department has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against approximately 30 individuals associated with the YouTube reality show "India's Got Latent," including prominent figures such as host Samay Raina and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia. The action comes in response to widespread criticism over allegedly inappropriate remarks made by Allahbadia during a recent episode.
The controversy erupted when Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, posed a provocative question to a contestant, which many deemed offensive and in poor taste. The incident led to multiple complaints being filed in Mumbai, calling for action against Allahbadia and other notable social media personalities associated with the show, including Apoorva Mukhija and comedian Samay Raina.
In response to the backlash, Samay Raina announced on social media that he has removed all episodes of "India's Got Latent" from his YouTube channel. He expressed that the situation had become overwhelming and stated his intention to fully cooperate with investigating agencies to ensure a fair inquiry.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also intervened, issuing summons to Allahbadia, Raina, Mukhija, and others involved in the show. They have been asked to appear before the commission on February 17 in New Delhi.
This incident has sparked a broader debate on the content standards of online platforms and the responsibilities of content creators in maintaining decorum and sensitivity in public discourse.
