In a recent development, the cheating case against veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has been resolved amicably. The complainant, Delhi-based businessman Sushil Kumar, has withdrawn his complaint, leading to the settlement of the dispute.

Background of the Case

In April 2018, Sushil Kumar was approached by two individuals claiming to represent Dharmendra. They proposed an opportunity to invest in a franchise of 'Garam Dharam Dhaba,' a restaurant chain associated with the actor, to be established on NH-24/NH-9 in Uttar Pradesh. Enticed by the proposal, Kumar invested ₹17.70 lakh on September 22, 2018, and even purchased land in Gajraula, District Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, for the project. However, he alleged that after the investment, there was no progress, and his attempts to contact the representatives were met with threats and intimidation. Feeling defrauded, Kumar filed a complaint alleging cheating and criminal conspiracy.

Legal Proceedings

On December 5, 2024, Judicial Magistrate Yashdeep Chahal of Delhi's Patiala House Court took cognizance of the complaint. The court noted that the evidence on record indicated a prima facie case of cheating and criminal conspiracy, leading to the summoning of Dharmendra and the two associates. The accused were directed to appear before the court on February 20, 2025.

Settlement and Withdrawal

Before the scheduled court appearance, the parties reached an out-of-court settlement. During a session court hearing on February 18, 2025, it was submitted that the matter had been resolved amicably, and Kumar expressed his desire to withdraw the complaint. Consequently, the case was compounded, and the revision petition was withdrawn.

This resolution brings an end to the legal dispute, with all parties agreeing to settle the matter without further litigation.
